Dutch municipalities, together with central government, are fighting domestic violence and child abuse. In the context of the "Violence belongs nowhere" action program, live cartoonist Floris Oudshoorn was present at De Driehoek in Utrecht as part of the report.
This is a broad expert meeting in the context of the program Violence belongs nowhere. This is a multi-year program of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and the united Dutch municipalities (VNG) to improve the approach to domestic violence and child abuse with measures that reduce domestic violence and child abuse and solve it in a sustainable way. The day is devoted to the development of building blocks for a multidisciplinary approach to serious domestic violence and child abuse.
Every year around 200,000 adults and 119,000 children are victims of domestic violence. To counter this, it is important that these situations come into the picture earlier. It is important that victims dare to speak out, that the victim's environment recognizes signals and that they subsequently know what to do. For example, all healthcare professionals and teachers are trained to use the domestic violence and child abuse reporting code.
