During a gathering of municipalities and youth care providers, live cartoonist Gertjan Kleijne clearly mapped out what can be done jointly to further improve youth care and at the same time reduce the deficits.
That this is not an easy task or can be realized with a simple solution was already clear to all parties. The Groningen municipalities, GIs and youth aid providers debated this in an administrative meeting with the aim of creating movement in the health care landscape together. The outcomes of working groups for improvements in health care and savings were presented and made visible in a large overview sheet.
The Groningen municipalities jointly purchase the youth aid through the Regional Purchasing Organization Groningen Municipalities (RIGG). In 2014, the RIGG was established for the three-year term, until 2018. At the end of 2016, the Groningen municipalities decided to maintain the RIGG up to and including 2020 and to continue the tasks of the procurement of youth assistance, monitoring, and advice.
