On Monday 8 October live cartoonist Maaike Hartjes went to Groningen. The Zorg Innovatie Forum (CIF) organized a workshop there, on the theme of e-health. The CIF is an initiative of more than 40 health care providers, social domain organizations, housing corporations, knowledge institutions and citizens' initiatives. Together with a group of experts, discussions were held about possible solutions to current problems that impede the implementation of e-health.
Technology contributes to the quality of care and also relieves informal caregivers. In addition, e-health can give older people a better quality of life. This way they can use remote applications to get care and thus live at home longer. New, smart technology can help provide the right care in the right place. Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public health, Welfare and Sport) therefore invests in digital supporting care and digital skills. Patients can discuss how things are going through video calling with their doctor. That saves a trip to the hospital and a thumbs up in the waiting room. People with a disability can live independently due to technical adjustments. They can participate independently as much as possible. People with mental health problems can also make much more their own decisions with online support.
