Big data-driven decision aid for breast cancer patients
On August 31 and September 1, 2020, Maastro organized the Embraces workshop in Driebergen, together with the Breast Cancer Association Netherlands, UMC Utrecht, the Amsterdam UMC and the NKI/AVL. The aim is to gain insight into the perspective of experts by experience about the side effects, the impact, the design and the right moment in the care path. Live cartoonist Gertjan Kleine jotted down the discussion.
Through dialogue and discussion with breast cancer experts, it was determined how the current BRASA decision aid should be adapted. The results of the workshop will be used for a scientific publication and a grant application to improve the BRASA selection aid. The goal was to gain insight from the patient's perspective about
- the impact of radiation on the quality of life;
- the short and long term side effects of irradiation;
- the design of the best decision aid;
- the right time to use the decision aid in the care path.
